So while the downstairs apartment is functional-- as in, fridge, stove, bathroom all working-- we still have hardly any furniture (and don't really plan on getting much until we turn our attention to renovating down here). It isn't too much of a problem for us, after all we managed in the back of a chevy for 5 months. However, we don't have anyplace to put anything!
So two days ago I came home to this:
Which Steve whipped up in the kitchen using scrap wood. Not bad, eh? Yesterday I painted it white and tacked up some fabric to hide our storage.
I also tacked up some fabric on the other side of the kichen to hide the yukkiness under the counter. Remember what that looked like?
Now it looks like this:
Ok, so it needs an ironing. But I don't have an iron, so let's just be grateful for a little improvement.
Speaking of improvement, you may be wondering about Rooney. We had a rough first week discovering his insecurities and weren't sure if we could give him the very best home. But we've been working on it every day, giving him exercise, training, and practice at being alone sometimes. We've also gotten him to love his crate:
And...the good news is, we've managed to leave him home alone for a little more than an hour without any problems! Hooray for progress all around. We've decided that little Roons just needs some time to get used to everything, and his confidence will grow.
In the meantime (he's so smart!) he's been running every day with me, and is now learning to run alongside my bike. He's also learned sit, down, stay, watch me, and come. I'm telling you, genius...
he's SO cute!! i wish him, Tilly and Parker could hang out.
